The LED chip light is a semiconductor material that emits light (blue light) and the phosphor material converts some of this light into green and red wavelengths. This mixture creates white light that is emitted from the LED package. All LED packages are marked with four-digit codes such as 3528, 5050, 3030 and 2835.
Both are semiconductor diodes. The LED or light-emitting diode emits light while the photovoltaic cell converts light to electricity. The LED is a diode that emits light only when forward-biased. Under a forward voltage bias, electrons cross from the n-region and recombine with the holes in the p-region.
Although some products today still use this design, the light output and CRI are low compared to newer LED chip lights. This type of LED is mostly used as signal lights and decorative works. Today, more advanced models of high power LED chips are available for home, commercial and industrial use.
Photovoltaics is the field of technology and research related to the development of solar cells for conversion of solar energy to electricity. Sometimes the term solar cell is reserved for devices intended specifically to capture energy from sunlight, whereas the term photovoltaic cell is used when the light source is unspecified.
